Moving is definitely one of the most stressful times in your life, but you do not have to let it take over your life. Stop letting the anxiety and hassle of moving take over your life. Long distance movers will help you get from point A to point B with as little of this stress as possible, but there are a lot of scams out there, and a lot of moving companies that overcharge.
Here are three helpful little tips to make sure you have thoroughly checked out the companies.
1. Ask around!
Talk to some of you friends and family. Most everyone has moved in their time, and some times people have moved several times. Find a friend or older family member who has made a big move before and ask them for a company that they trust. If your recommender has no one, then ask them who to avoid.
2. Get estimates.
Once you have about three or four recommendations (or just three or four companies) then bring them to your house to get an estimate on what it will cost them to move your house. The trick to this is to be thorough. Show them every room and everything that you plan on taking. This way they cannot spring any “surprise fees” on you.
3. Call the better business bureau and do some background checks.
Once you have your estimates, call up the better business bureau to see if anyone has complained about the company before. Obviously a company will not tell you if someone has reported their employees for stealing or overcharging or for damaging property, but their victims will. Asking the better business bureau about your moving company of choice will definitely put to bed ay last fears you might have.
Another good method to move is to use self storage pods. They have their own pros and cons, like being able to pack them yourself at your own leisure, but if you were interested in hiring a moving company, then I hope you heed my three pieces of advice.

Good luck and happy travels!
I would definitely reiterate the whole taking them through your whole house point. That one is huge. I used to work for a moving company who would spy rooms that he didnt get taken to and then plan to spring people with charges.
