Military homes

Moving to a new home is a lot of work, and can be stressful for anyone but especially for military families with small children. While most of us will move at least a few times in our lifetimes, military personnel and their families have to relocated frequently. The average military family moves once every three years, and the average military child can change schools from six to nine times.

There is help for families who are looking for military housing for rent. Military bases have relocation managers who can help, and it is a good idea to get in tough with the relocation manager at the new base as soon as possible when planning a move. Military housing websites are also a good resource. The military housing sites contain information about military homes for rent both on and off military bases.

Information about the neighborhoods of the available military housing is also included on the military housing sites. For example, reviews and ratings of the school districts are available. School ratings are one of the biggest factors in selecting an area to move to, and oftentimes even military families who do not have school aged children take the school ratings into account as one way to determine what the area might be like to live in.

  1. My brother is in the Air Force, and he has moved about five times in the last 12 years, and he has four kids, all under 8 years old. I think his wife is a saint.
